"My philosophy of directing is simple. It is truly what I want to be doing. I love the feeling of getting a great performance or making a beautiful shot. Directing gives me the chance to constantly improve my abilities and see how far I can progress. I am driven. I feel my best and most innovative work is yet to be done."

Born in Hammond, Indiana in 1962 and raised in the mid and southwest, JEFF attended Ohio State University and graduated with a BFA in English (creative writing, with additional course work in photography and music). He played guitar professionally through high school and college and moved to New York in 1976 to study improvisation with jazz guitarist LARRY CORYELL.

At a sports production facility in Connecticut, JEFF did studio and location recording and mixing. While there he was promoted to in-house director and began shooting featurettes around the country, doing interviews and editing his own material. He was then hired by Aetna Life to produce and direct industrial films.

JEFF joined HBO and was in the On-Air Promotions department and took advantage of their educational benefits to enroll in NYU masters program in Film and Media studies. There he learned the bulk of his technical film skills. He was also able to get a great deal of videotape post production experience while at HBO.

The majority of JEFF's work at HBO was shooting and editing spots for CINEMAX. Although they had fewer viewers, they were willing to take more risks. He was able to write and direct larger scale productions on 35mm film. The last two years at CINEMAX he wrote and directed four major network campaigns the last of which he DP'd, produced music tracks and edited.
